About us
A holding company that shows up on the floor
Rotherson buys precision metal processing businesses in southeastern Pennsylvania and runs them. Not a fund with an exit clock, not a broker, not an investor group that calls in quarterly. We own two shops in Telford and we intend to own more.
Why we exist
Good shops shouldn't die with their founders
American manufacturing is full of businesses built by one person over thirty or forty years. Real customers, real reputations, machines that still run. And no succession plan.
When those companies sell, too often they get stripped, absorbed, or moved. The name comes off the building. The crew gets a severance letter. The customers get a 1-800 number in another state.
Rotherson exists to be the other option. We buy those businesses, keep them where they are, and put capital and systems behind what already works.
What we bring
Capital, systems, and operators
- Capital for equipment and capacity that a single owner couldn’t justify alone
- Shared systems for quoting, scheduling, quality, and reporting
- Operators who have run a shop floor, not just a spreadsheet
- Market access across the group, so each company can quote work it couldn’t take alone
- A long-term owner, so decisions get made on a ten-year horizon
How we operate
Four things we don't do
We don't flip
Rotherson is a holding company. There's no fund life, no forced sale date, no pressure to exit on someone else's timeline.
We don't move the work
The shop stays where it is, with the people who run it. Customers keep their contacts and their part numbers.
We don't erase the name
Chantelau has been Chantelau since 1987 and still is. The sign on the building doesn't change.
We don't disappear after closing
Our team is in the numbers and on the floor. Ownership is a job here, not a line item.
Leadership
Jake Rothenberger
Founder & CEO
Jake leads Rotherson’s work building a group of modern industrial companies that keep legacy craftsmanship intact while bringing in the technology and systems that let a small shop compete for bigger work.

Where we are
Telford, Pennsylvania
Both Rotherson companies operate from Telford, in Bucks County, about forty minutes north of Philadelphia. It’s a region with deep manufacturing roots and a workforce that still knows how to run a machine — which is a large part of why we buy here.
We look at opportunities across southeastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.

Next
We're still buying
If you own a manufacturing business in the region and you’re thinking about what comes next, we’d like to talk. No broker, no process, no obligation.
